\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tLaTique, widely known as ‘Mr Rare Dub’, returns with a compelling new body of work titled \u2018Winter Tone\u2019 an eight-track deep house EP that captures his signature blend of Deep House and Afro-tech influences, layered with musical maturity and precision. The project arrives at a defining moment in his career, reflecting a producer who has honed his craft and is now fully leaning into his identity.\n\n

\n\nOriginally from Estcourt in KwaZulu-Natal, LaTique began his musical journey in 2012, inspired by his older brother and an early introduction to keys and production. After releasing music under the name ‘Harmony’ in his formative years, he rebranded in 2017, a move that marked a turning point in his trajectory and introduced the industry to the sound now synonymous with his name. Since then, he\u2019s released with respected labels like Atjazz Record Company, House Afrika, and Stay True Sounds, and has continued to build his own imprint, RVRE Recording Company.

\n\n\u2018Winter Tone\u2019 is a sonically rich and cohesive offering, and one of the highlights of the project is the track \u2018Ixesha\u2019, a standout collaboration with Mdu aka TRP featuring Zimvo. \u2018Ixesha\u2019 is a deeply musical and vocally powerful track that leans into a hybrid space between tribal house and amapiano, all anchored by LaTique\u2019s unmistakable deep house foundation. The result is something that feels both rooted and forward-facing.\n

\n\nZimvo\u2019s vocal performance adds a sense of urgency and soul, while the rhythmic structure pulls from percussive tribal influences, layered over a deep house groove. The other two focus tracks, \u2018Amber\u2019 and \u2018Excuses\u2019, are both deep house masterpieces. They reflect the fullness of LaTique\u2019s musical style; emotive, groove-driven and timeless in their appeal. Both tracks feature ethereal vocals as a backdrop, supported by strong chord progressions and atmospheric synths. While \u2018Excuses\u2019 includes a log drum effect that subtly leans it toward the realm of ‘private school piano’, the overall composition remains rooted in LaTique\u2019s deep house aesthetic. These tracks help define the sonic atmosphere of the entire EP and showcase the depth of his production craft.\n

\n\nThe EP also features contributions from some exciting collaborators. On the track \u2018Jonga Le\u2019, LaTique brings in the smooth voice of Sia Mzizi. \u2018Let Go\u2019 features production duo Mafia Natives, resulting in a track that blends groove-driven sensibilities with storytelling through song, a perfect match to LaTique\u2019s increasingly cinematic approach to sound.\n\n
